Our Little Talks Podcast

In our final episode of 2020, we discuss being positive, staying hopeful, and working for the common good of our communities. We talk about a few Christmas movies, past New Years Eves, and how Dick Clark was brilliant at selling the New Year countdown. We also talk about our hopes for 2021 and look forward to Season 3 of Cobra Kai!

 

 

In this episode, we discuss our thoughts on the first two seasons of The Mandalorian and the latest episode, “The Tragedy.” We talk about the unsurprising return of everyone’s favorite bounty hunter and why it doesn’t matter if you fit someone’s idea of what it means to be a true fan. We also rant about people who are paranoid about diversity. We wrap things up with a “deep” discussion of the unique religious perspective of A Charlie Brown Christmas compared to most other Christmas specials.

It's our first annual Christmas Special! (Sort of...) We begin with a discussion of the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian and the return of THE Jedi! We also wonder about Star Wars fans' unsettling fascination with and enjoyment of brutal, violent deaths. Next we talk about our annual viewing of the classic film White Christmas and the problematic racial elements of old movies. Then we talk about Christmas music and touch on innumerable random topics including how much Dad hates himself for not being able to NOT talk about Star Wars. 

In this episode, we offer thoughts on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Year Without a Santa Claus, Jingle All the Way and the “live” viewing of The Grinch Musical! We also talk about why its dumb to always buy the newest, most popular gadgets and ridicule people who think they are actually relevant enough to “cancel” someone. We finish the episode by discussing the latest chapter of The Mandalorian and why Dad won’t watch any of Disney’s planned tsunami of new Star Wars content.

In this episode we recap our Thanksgiving Day! Dad fact checks the previous episode and had no idea who anyone was in the Macy's Parade. He also rethinks his stance the traditional Thanksgiving meal and did not watch the Detroit Lions game. We discuss the live streamed Josh Groban concert and why our family loves him so much. Also, Dad regrets letting his kids watch John Hughes movies and the James Bond film "Goldfinger." We wrap things up by talking about the Muppets and our annual viewing of "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street."

In our debut episode we discuss Thanksgiving, whether people actually make the things they pin on Pinterest, the two times Dad went to the Macy's Parade, the no-win scenario of the Coronavirus pandemic and school, acknowledging the holidays of other cultures, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and the awfulness of Peppermint Patty. We also discuss Dad's surprise that John Mulaney never comes up in the conversation, Fred Astaire, and the correct ways to pronounce oeuvre and gnocchi.
